From Aperitivo To Last Dance: Creating The Soundtrack For A Puglia Wedding
FixTheMusic talks us through their approach for entertainment at an Italian Destination Wedding in Puglia!

When couples first start dreaming about getting married in Puglia, the images are usually very clear. Whitewashed masseria’s, ancient olive groves, candlelit courtyards and long summer evenings are always part of the picture. But just as often, they’re also imagining traditional Trullo’s, vineyard settings, and historic castles dotted across the countryside. It’s a region that feels cinematic without trying too hard.

What many couples don’t always realise at the beginning, though, is just how much music shapes the feeling of the day. The right soundtrack can turn a beautiful setting into something truly unforgettable.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Claire of Claire Clarke Weddings, and I’ve been planning weddings in Puglia for over ten years. Before moving fully into destination weddings, I worked in London hotels including Corinthia London and The Savoy. It was during that time that I first met the team at FixTheMusic. Since then, they’ve been a constant in my supplier toolkit, and to this day I book them regularly for my wedding couples in Italy.

Why? Quite simply, because working through a trusted platform like FixTheMusic gives me, and my couples, real peace of mind. Everything is clear upfront: you can see videos, read reviews, understand the style of each act, and know you’re dealing with experienced professionals who are used to destination weddings. It keeps the process smooth, transparent and stress-free, which is exactly what you want when planning a wedding abroad.

As planners, we’re frequently asked: What kind of band should we book? Is a DJ enough? Do we need separate musicians for the ceremony and aperitivo?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but there is a way to think about music that makes everything flow more naturally.

So, let’s be honest, it’s been a while since I posted here but to kick things back off with my Supplier Squad series, a platform where I give trusted wedding professionals the space to share their expertise, I’m sharing how FixTheMusic approach building the soundtrack for a Puglian wedding – from the ceremony right through to the last dance – with real examples of the acts couples love to book. Let’s discuss Italian Destination Wedding entertainment in Puglia!

FixTheMusic, over to you, talk me through how *YOU* would do a Puglian Wedding…

Ceremony: setting the tone

The ceremony is where the emotion really hits, and in Puglia many couples lean towards something elegant, soft and timeless.

String or acoustic music works beautifully in churches, baroque courtyards and outdoor settings.

The Puglia String Quartet are a popular choice, performing everything from classical favourites to modern ballads. They bring a refined, romantic feel that suits venues like the courtyards of Masseria Potenti perfectly.

If you’re drawn to something more contemporary but still understated, Toni On Sax combines live saxophone with subtle DJ support. It’s a lovely option for open-air ceremonies at venues such as Borgo Egnazia, where you want atmosphere without overpowering the moment.

Aperitivo: relaxed and social

Aperitivo is one of the most loved parts of a Puglian wedding. Guests drift between food stations, sip cocktails, and soak up the setting as the light softens.

The music here should lift the mood without stopping people from chatting.

The Jay Walkers, a roaming band based in Puglia, are fantastic for this. With brass, winds and percussion, they move among your guests playing pop, Italian and Balkan-inspired tunes. Their interactive style works especially well in large outdoor spaces like Masseria Grieco.

Dinner: atmosphere without overpowering

Dinner is all about long tables, incredible food and conversation. Music should add warmth, not compete for attention.

Trio Classico bring a real sense of place, performing Italian folk and traditional songs with mandolin, accordion and guitar. They’re a beautiful fit for olive-grove dinners at venues such as Masseria Torre Coccaro. *Chiming in here as I booked these guys last August for a wedding at Castello Monaci and boy oh boy, did we have a blast! (Pics below!)*

For something more modern, One More Time offer acoustic and light pop sets that sit comfortably beneath speeches and toasts.

First dance: the shift to celebration

After dinner, the energy naturally starts to change.

This is where bands like Stardust, based in Bari, really shine. They’re known for taking couples seamlessly from their first dance straight into a lively party set. Covering soul, pop and rock, they can also provide a DJ to keep the evening flowing once the live music finishes. Their full-day packages are especially popular at venues like Masseria San Giovanni and Castello Monaci. *Chiming in again here, sorry FixTheMusic… I actually had these guys perform at MY wedding in Puglia and I’ve been booking them for weddings ever since (10 years this year!)*

Party: dancing into the night

The party is where memories are made, and there are plenty of options depending on the vibe you want.

For an Ibiza-style feel, Neon Beats (based in Taranto) combine a DJ with live sax. It’s high-energy without being overwhelming, and works well with venues that have sound limiters.

If you’re looking for a full live band, The Keepers deliver funk, pop and rock and are ideal for larger courtyards and marquees, such as those at Castello Monaci.

For couples wanting a real headline feel, Mashup Kings from the UK often perform in Puglia. Their mix of live vocals, instruments and DJ-style mashups creates a big international party atmosphere, particularly suited to mixed guest lists.

Practical tips for Puglian weddings

Multiple spaces: Many venues, including Castello Monaci, Borgo Egnazia and Masseria Grieco, move guests through different areas during the day. Acts like Stardust or One More Time can cover several moments, helping the day flow without awkward gaps.

Sound restrictions: Some venues have sound limiters or curfews. Hybrid acts such as Toni On Sax or Neon Beats are excellent solutions, delivering live energy at controlled volumes.

Budgeting: Acoustic acts typically start from around €1,000, while full party bands range from €3,000–€15,000 depending on size and travel. Booking local acts through FixTheMusic often keeps costs lower than flying musicians in.
